Good in bed

At home, the bedroom should be the comfort zone. And where exactly does somebody feel more relaxed than in bed?

But that depends largely on the mattress.

Mattresses today are designed with specific qualities that match the physique and sleeping habits of the consumer—some are bony or plump, some sleep on their side or on their back.

“When the mattress is not really matched to the body, the discomfort comes in, so do the many bodily pains,” says Dindo Medina, corporate sales administrator of Multiflex RNC Philippines, Inc.

Uratex, a leading foam product brand, recently unveiled its new collection of mattresses and foams with therapeutic effects for comfort.

“Each mattress or foam promotes different support features and comfort designs in order to serve different types of physique and sleeping habits,” says Medina. “These include Orthocare Mattress, Senso Memory Foam, Premium Touch Viscoluxe Memory, Premium Touch CozyLatex and Comfort Zone Latex Plus—all treated with sanitized, an antibacterial additive deep within the core that guarantees better protection for the user.”

Apart from improper sleeping positions, imbalanced mattresses, which are either too hard or too soft, are one of the main culprits of the many body pains. To help sleepers with back pains, Uratex developed Orthocare, a medical-grade mattress, which, according to Medina, “marries a high-density polyurethane mattress to a multi-zone topper with breathable open-pored cell structure.

This therapeutic mattress is zoned to ensure proper spine alignment and eliminate pressure points. It’s firmer in the hip and back areas but softer in the shoulder and foot zones, thus giving above-average support and comfort all over the body.

Made of 100-percent foam, Orthocare boasts an ideal balance between firmness and comfort that allows for a more natural sleeping position. This hospital-quality mattress is designed to aid in promoting good posture while sleeping; ensure equal distribution of pressure; relax the legs, hips, arms and shoulders; relieve contact pressure while guaranteeing better blood circulation; and provide correct support for the neck, spine and lower back.

Orthocare is made of Jacquard-woven damask fabric, and has a tape edge closure for reinforced comfort and a streamlined, tailored look. Its quilted embroidered cover has elegant, classic design. It is available in 6- or 8-inch foam.

Nasa-approved

Meanwhile, the Senso Memory Foam by Uratex is made of quality memory or visco-elastic foam, which, Medina explains, has been used by space agency Nasa to provide comfort for astronauts as it reduces the extreme pressure during takeoff.

Soon, hospitals began to use memory foam to give relief to pressure sores sustained by bedridden patients and provide comfort to those who need extended bed rest. Realizing its combined comfort and health benefits, commercial bedding manufacturers soon started using this foam breakthrough in their foam products, he says.

The Sensory Memory Foam mattress is manufactured using a visco-elastic foam on top of a polyurethane base so the foam could mold to or cradle the body in a way that significantly eases pressure and feels ultra-comfy. Made with imported, top-quality knitted Sanitized fabric cover, it imparts a cool, comfortable feeling to the user. It comes with either a choice of 2-inch or 3-inch-thick memory foam topper, while that mattress itself is 8-inch thick.

Unlike other memory foams that feel warm, Senso Memory Foam is designed to sense the body’s weight and temperature. Then, it gently molds or conforms to its specific shape and contours, and equally distributes pressure all over the body. Supporting every part of the body, it eases pressure points and the usual arches or discomfort related to incorrect sleeping positions.

“So the moment you lie down on our Senso Memory Foam, you’ll experience a weightless, pressure-free sensation,” boasts Medina. “That, for sure, positions your joints and spine in perfect, natural alignment.”

Premium touch

DESIGNED for ultimate comfort, the Viscoluxe Memory mattress is part of the exclusive Premium Touch Elegant Pocket Spring Collection of Uratex.

With its combination of advanced pocket spring system and body-molding memory foam, Medina says comfortable sleep is always assured since any movement done on the side won’t disrupt the other side.

Viscoluxe Memory boasts of an exclusive firm feel that balances the softness for optimum support and comfort. Sensitive to the heat and weight of the body, it gently conforms to body contours, thus relieving pressure points and allows the joints and spine to be aligned naturally.

Beneath the memory foam, the pocket springs move with the body to support every inch. The high-dense foam helps ensure a steady mattress without the need of flipping it over. Its quilted mattress cover is made of soft-knitted fabric, while the mattress border is side-stitched for a classic look, as well as gives extra-supportive edge. Overall, the mattress brings about a total feeling of relaxation and comfortable sleep with less tossing and turning.

The Premium Touch Viscoluxe Memory is available in three types of memory foam toppers: Tight Top, Pillow Top and Euro Top.

Wool from Tibet

ALSO part of the Premium Touch line is CozyLatex, which has high-performance pocket springs, five-zone latex foam and cashmere cover. Its fabric cover, which is known as kashmira, is a feather-soft exotic cashmere made from very fine wool fibers from Tibet. So in any season, it keeps you comfy without itchiness or even allergies.

The Premium Touch CozyLatex, according to Medina, provides the same features as the Viscoluxe Memory, except that it uses a natural rubber as the comfort layer. What’s more, it is zoned to accommodate certain portions of the body that need extra softness like the shoulder blade, the hip, the ankles, and provide harder surfaces for areas that need support like the back.

For an even more premium support and comfort, this especially constructed mattress combine advanced pocket spring system, high-density foam and natural latex foam topper to ensure a good night’s sleep—free from restless tossing and body pains. It’s durable, nondeforming pocket springs cleverly adjust to the body. Atop the pocket spring mattress is the five-zone latex foam that provides relief from pressure points and back pains, natural antimicrobial properties and orthopedic support. The high-density foam guarantees ultimate stability without needing to flip or turn over the mattress. Also, the latex is naturally breathable material; thus making you feel cool and comfortable.

Bamboo fabric

THEN there is Uratex’s Comfort Zone Latex Plus, which features superior-grade, high-resilient foam and premium-quality five-zone latex foam with covers made of 100-percent bamboo fabric.

“More or less, it’s the same as the CozyLatex, except that it has foam base rather than a pocket spring,” Medina says. “This one also uses the natural latex.”

Uniquely constructed, Comfort Zone Latex Plus is a mattress that combines a posh look and feel with pure comfort, relief from back pains and protection from odor, heat, sweat and microbes. It’s ideal for those who suffer from back pains, asthma and other forms of allergy.

As for its benefits, this hybrid foam has just the right firmness and feels comfortably soft once it warms from body contact. Absolute comfort and lumbar support are guaranteed with its five-zone design. What’s more, it cradles the body in cozy comfort sans the sinking feeling associated with other foam types.
