The National Economic

approved 11 projects, including the P25-billion North Luzon Expressway
(Nlex)-South Luzon Expressway (Slex) connector project and the
P43-billion Cavite-Laguna Expressway.
Secretary Ramon
Carandang of the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic

completion in 2016 and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway in 2017 were
“approved in principle, pending a review of the cost.”
The Neda Board
approved, too, the School Infrastructure Project for the construction of
 10,679 classrooms from 2013 to 2014 at a cost of P13.1 billion.
The board also
green-lighted Phase 1 of the Mactan International Airport Terminal to be
built from 2014 to 2016 at a cost of P8.87 billion, and the
rehabilitation of Angat Hydroelectric Plant (Turbines 4 and 5) from 2013
to 2014 to cost P1.15 billion.
Other projects include
the P1.14-billion Albay West Coast Road Project from 2014 to 2016; the
P2.1-billion Tacloban Airport Redevelopment Project from 2013 to 2016;
and the Contactless Automatic Fare Collection System project to be
undertaken from 2013 to 2014 at P1.7 billion.
The Neda Board also
approved the acquisition of multi-role response vessels from 2012 to
2016, at P8.8 billion; the extension of the Mindanao Rural Development
Project 2 from 2012 to 2014, at P7.39 billion; and Component A of the
Convergence on Chain Enhancement for Rural Growth and Empowerment from
2013 to 2019, at P68 million.
Carandang said the project costs cited were only “indicative” costs.
