WHAT IS A REALTOR

WHAT IS A REALTOR®?

The right to use the term REALTOR® in the Philippines pertains exclusively to regular members in good standing of the
PHILIPPINE ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® BOARDS (PAREB).

REALTOR®
is a service mark registered in the Commission of Patents of the United States of America as Document No. 515199 and in the Philippine Patent Office as Document No. 5385, as property of the National Association of REALTORS® Boards, now known as the National Association of REALTORS® or NAR.

NAR has conferred upon PAREB since 1960,the authority to use the REALTOR® term and trademark.

No other real estate broker or service practitioner or real estate organization in the Philippines may use the term REALTOR® other than regular members in good standing of PAREB who subscribe to a Code of Ethics. And it must be used only to denote membership to PAREB, a duly affiliated organization of NAR-USA.

NAR's recent victory in defeating a legal challenge to the uniqueness of the REALTOR® trademark is a timely reminder that the terms REALTOR® and REALTORS® aren't synonymous with generic terms, such as real estate practitioner or real estate agent or broker.

Why Do You Need a REALTOR®?

REALTORS® are bound by a strict code of ethics, and have devoted time and effort to learn the processes involved in real estate dealings. Frequently, buyers and sellers have learned, too late, that they should have consulted a professional hoping they could save a few pesos. Because they lacked the information, not only did they end up spending more but had to deal with the frustration of delays, documentation difficulties, and unfortunately some have even ended up in the local court house facing suit.

FOR EFFICIENT AND ETHICAL REAL ESTATE SERVICE, CONSULT A REALTOR®.
