ABOITIZLAND Inc. has contacted homegrown Dakay Construction and Development Corp. (DCDC) to build the four-tower condominium enclave The Persimmon in Mabolo, Cebu City.

AboitizLand chief operations officer Andoni Aboitiz said the company “always puts together the best and the brightest for every project and The Persimmon is no exception.”

DCDC is a class AAA general engineering contractor, recognized for its expertise in structural works for buildings, ports, heavy construction and structural steel fabrication.

The company counts among its landmark projects the Cebu City Sports Center Grandstand, the Timex Watch Assembly Plant at the Mactan Economic Zone and the Parklane International Hotel. It has also been awar-ded contracts for the construction of government school buildings and other structures all over the Visayas and Mindanao.

Aboitiz said the partnership with DCDC is “testament of our faith in the Cebuano spirit, talent and great capacity for excellence.”

More jobs

He added that his company also views the engagement of DCDC as its contribution to making more jobs available to locals as the contractor has a largely Cebuano work force.

DCDC joins the roster of renowned talents that have been engaged to put The Persimmon together, including Recio+Casas, as the project’s architectural consulting firm. The partnership of Pedro Recio and Carmelo Casas was the Philippine Institute of Architects’ Firm of the Year in 1999.

Lighting design for The Persimmon is provided by Christine Sicangco Lighting Design Inc., one of the few independent lighting design consulting firms in the Philippines and the company behind the lighting successes of the Washington National Airport and SM Megamall. PGAA Creative Design—which counts the Banyan Tree Group in Indonesia, the Hainan Mandarin and Sutera Harbor Project in Kota Kinabalu as its landmark accomplishments—is The Persimmon’s landscape architects.

DCDC is a two-time Outstanding Institution awardee of the City of Cebu. It is also a recipient of the Philippine Contractors’ Association Humanitarian Award. The company has 55 professional engineers and architects and a core group of 1,500 highly-skilled workers.

DCDC declares that its partnership with Aboitiz-Land is an “avenue to fulfill its vision of becoming a catalyst in the construction industry by sharing in the task of building communities, improving the quality of life.” (PR)
