Israeli investors interested in telecoms, agriculture

ISRAEL Ambassador to the Philippines Menashe Bar-On said the Philippines continues to attract Israeli businessmen seeking to explore public-private partnerships (PPPs) in the fields of telecommunications and agriculture technologies, green energy and water management.
Bar-On said at least eight Israel telecommunication companies are participating in the Israel Telecommunications Investment Roadshow, to be held in Manila on June 25 and 26.
“We aim to provide opportunities for both Israel and Philippine investors to benefit from the investment potentials in these areas,” said Bar-On in an interview with the BusinessMirror at the sidelines of the Israel Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ICCP) annual assembly held on Tuesday at the Tower Club in Makati.

 
He said in particular Israel investors are keen on sharing agriculture technologies to Filipino partners to “improve productivity and quality of harvests in the Philippines.”
Bar-On also said his government also train Filipino agriculture experts on new technologies in Israel to improve products and increase harvests. At least 300 Filipino agriculture experts have been trained in Israel.
In the fields of green energy, the Israeli envoy said there is a lot of business potentials for solar and hydroelectric energy sectors that can be explored by Israel investors.
“We would like to provide a platform for Israel investors to learn about the investment opportunities in the Philippines as there is a lot of potentials [for growth] in this country,” said Bar-On.
The Israeli ambassador hailed the signing of business partnership between Globe Telecom and an Israeli telecommunications company sayng, “we hope to do more [partnerships] in the fields of green energy and water management.”
Josef Gueta, president of the Israel Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, meanwhile encouraged Filipino investors to explore business opportunities in Israel to promote good trade relations between the two countries.
