BPO building to be finished by June, developer assures

A CEBU CITY-based developer, Crown Realty Development Corp., aims to finish its new business center on Juan Luna Avenue, Mabolo by June this year.

Crown 7 Business Center is an eight-storey building that provides leasable spaces to business process outsourcing (BPO) companies that wish to expand their businesses in Cebu.

“We intend to develop a business center that targets call center companies because we have seen the growing number of these companies that locate their businesses in Cebu,” said Dickson Lim, Crown Realty vice president.

Crown 7 Business Center has a lot area of 2,000 square meters (sq.m.) and a floor area of 1,200 sq.m. Its total leasable area is about 12,000 sq.m.

The company, Lim said, has invested about P200 million in the building project.

The June completion of the building will “prove that the economy of the country is on its way to recovery,” Lim said.

Aside from the leasable spaces intended for the BPO companies, the building also has leasable commercial spaces.

Lim said entrepreneurs who wish to put up coffee shops, fast food, laundry and convenience stores can get spaces at the Crown 7 Business Center.

Since construction began two years ago, the company has been getting inquiries from BPO companies in Manila, United States and India, Lim said.

“Cebu is an emerging BPO location,” he said.

Earlier reports said Cebu has remained in the top spot in the Global Services Survey on the “Top 50 Emerging Global Out-sourcing Destinations” mainly due to its scale

and quality of workforce, modern infrastructure, business catalyst, risk profile, cost and quality of life.

“Investors from India and Manila will come to Cebu to see the building next month,” Lim said.

Crown Realty Development Corp. had developed Crown Building and Crown Plaza at the North Reclamation Area. Aside from real estate, the Lim family is also into retail, sugar farming and trading businesses.
