Finally, many Filipinos will enjoy the benefits of 3D television viewing with the recent launching of LG Electronics’ (LG) Cinema 3D TV, which combines the first officially certified “Flicker-Free” 3D picture in the industry with comfortable, battery-free, lightweight glasses; a brighter picture; more flexible viewing positions; and a wide viewing angle.

“When it comes to watching 3D entertainment for longer periods in greater comfort, LG’s Cinema 3D TV is the perfect choice,” said Cyd Montebon, product marketing head of LG Electronics Philippines, in a statement.

“We’re eager to show everyone just how exciting our new 3D TVs are and why we’re confident this will become the industry standard for 3D TV technology,” added Montebon.

Unlike conventional 3D TVs, the company pointed out the Cinema 3D TV has flicker-free technology that virtually eliminates feelings of dizziness through the use of FPR glasses that are light, weighing only 16 grams, and do not require batteries or charging. Moreover, Montebon said LG 3D glasses are free of electromagnetic waves ensuring more convenience and safer compared to the conventional 3D glasses.

Montebon pointed out the LG’s 3D TV does not only offer absolute comfort while viewing at the same time experiencing brighter and clearer 3D pictures because the Cinema 3D TV is coated with 3D Light Boost, a thin film covering that counteracts any dimness that usually occurs with traditional 3D TVs.

Large groups is not a problem for the Cinema 3D TV because it provides flexible viewing positions, allowing customers to enjoy clear and bright 3D pictures whether lying down or leaning back in any spot in front of the TV. Thus, viewers can now experience longer and more enjoyable viewing of 3D films. With the Cinema 3D TV, consumers definitely can savor at home 3D viewing which can only be experience before in cinemas prior to LG’s launching of the said technology.

Besides superb picture quality in 2D and 3D, Cinema 3D TV boasts all the advantages of LG’s Smart TV technology. With its simple Home Dashboard and Magic Motion Remote Control, LG Cinema 3D TV makes it easy to access a full array of premium content via top global providers, locally sourced shows and the growing range of LG Apps designed specifically for use on its Smart TV.

At the same briefing, LG also unveiled the LG Smart TV, which the company claimed of not only having brilliant and innovative technology.

“It encapsulates simple and effective control over your home entertainment experience. The LG Smart TV features a home dashboard that allows you full entertainment access from a single screen. With its ‘Point, Click, Control, Simply Smarter’ capabilities, LG’s Smart TV lets users access the best of the internet directly on the big screen in a way that is easier and quicker,” said the company.

According to LG, the smart share feature allows immediate wireless access to content on your PC or Smart phone so that connecting to your digital devices will never be a problem.

Through the Magic Motion Remote Control, customers will experience intuitive control linked to a UI that offers single click access, by letting viewers drag and drop, just like a PC. By allowing users to navigate through an onscreen cursor instead of pushing buttons, LG Smart TV makes controlling the TV easy and direct, with no need to take your eyes off the screen.

The Smart TV also features long-tail LG apps that give customers a more enjoyable TV experience. LG Smart TV enriches peoples’ lives by offering the most practical and lifestyle-focused premium content with a better user experience. The Smart TV offers the optimum line-up of global and local premium content providers. With these features the Smart TV offers simple control for all its users.

Majority of the 3D TV brands last year used the shutter glasses (SG) technology, this year LG’s Cinema 3D range employs Film Patterned Retarder (FPR) technology, which addresses the problems that hampered the enjoyment of earlier 3D TVs. Cinema 3D uses a polarized film on the screen to deliver different images for the left and right eyes. These images are then matched up with Cinema 3D glasses and the result is a 3D picture that is Flicker-Free—as certified by European quality assurance agencies TÜV and Intertek—with less crosstalk, meaning no more dizziness and eye fatigue that sometimes occurs with wearing shutter glasses.

And because they’re 100-percent free of electrical and moving parts, LG’s Cinema 3D glasses weigh no more than 16 grams, making them comfortable to wear even for extended periods of time. At a very affordable cost, it is now possible for entire families and groups of friends to enjoy 3D at home together.

This main advantage was underscored at the recent National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas when Avatar director James Cameron predicted that cheaper, lightweight polarized glasses would need to become the industry standard for 3D TVs to become truly embraced by consumers.

Further contributing to higher picture quality is LG’s Light Boost, a thin film that ensures 3D images are shown at their full brightness. What’s more, a wide viewing angle and flexible viewing positions make Cinema 3D ideal for watching in groups or while sitting or lying down in any spot in front of the screen.

Cinema 3D also addresses another problem that affected previous 3D sets—the lack of content. With a new, highly advanced 2D to 3D conversion feature, Cinema 3D TVs deliver top quality 3D on the fly, meaning viewers will never be short of good 3D content to watch.
