Candon Hotel beckons

CANDON CITY, adjudged as the most business-friendly city of the Philippines in 2010 by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has more to offer to business travelers and visitors to the Ilocandia country.

At the center of the second district of Ilocos Sur’s “center of trade and industry,” the chic yet welcoming new home for businessmen and tourists alike is ready to take them into its fold after a day of rigorous business activities or reveling around this historical city.

Candon Hotel, one of the newest accommodations in Candon City, guarantees to make any visitor’s stay comfortable, relaxing, entertaining—all in style.

‘Salvaged’

Joining the business circuit in March 2011, Candon Hotel has the distinction of having boxing champ Manny Pacquiao and his camp as one of its clients a few months right after it opened.

But Candon Hotel’s evolution into what it is now might have been a stroke of good luck. The property, which was to become Candon Hotel, was formerly a residential structure which was left unfinished by its original owners and was unfortunately foreclosed by the bank.

It was eventually offered and sold to Stern Real Estate Development Inc., which saw the potential of the mixed Mediterranean and old classic-designed structure of becoming an accommodation facility, said Allan Floresca, the corporation’s area manager in Ilocos Sur.

Stern is the developer of a string of hotels in the country like the Rembrandt Hotel, Santiago Cove Resort, and the soon-to-open Le Monet Lodge in Camp John Hay, Baguio City.

Floresca said Baguio City-based ELYS Journey Construction assisted in turning the once-abandoned building into its current elegance.

What was originally planned as a bed-and-bath facility has turned into a full-blown, four-story hotel that is stylish, interesting and homely.

Amenities

Twenty-four cozy rooms make up Candon Hotel, complete with all the amenities to accommodate any client’s needs. What’s more, aside from the typical TV sets and air-conditioning, all of the hotel’s rooms have Magic Sing perfect for families or group of friends seeking entertainment within the confines of their quarters. The entire hotel area is also a Wi-Fi zone.

To cap a busy and tiring day, a rooftop establishment called The Cellar Bar offers a variety of drinks and a well-lit and stylish bar area. Party with friends or simply enjoy a nice talk with buddies over tables made of fiberglass and brilliantly designed with color lights that add to the bar’s cozy, open-air ambiance. And while relaxing, The Cellar Bar’s fourth-floor location gives you a spectacular view of Candon City at night.

It also offers a massage service to soothe tired muscles and be rejuvenated for the next day’s activities.

The hotel also will delight your taste buds with its wide choices of food, including, of course, Ilocano dishes to round up one’s trip to the Ilocandia country.

More to offer

This February, a function hall that can house 150 persons perfect for conferences, seminars and other occasions will soon open, along with a KTV bar and a swimming pool for additional entertainment. Twenty more rooms will be added as part of its expansion project.

Candon Hotel is located at Calaoa-an, Candon City.
