CEBU, Philippines - The Regional Development Council in Central Visayas will invest in multi-billion peso worth of socio-economic and infrastructure projects next year after it approved the 2010 Annual Investment Plan during the recent Regional Development Council meeting in Siquijor.
Under the 2010 Annual Investment Program, a component of the 2005-2010 Central Visayas Regional Development Investment Program, the economic development sector of RDC endorsed the funding requirement for the P11.62 million Cebu Vegetable Highway in Carcar-Dalaguete with the Department of Agriculture as the implementing agency.
Focus will be given to comprehensive and integrated development of the goat industry in Dumanjug town and rehabilitation and concreting of farm to market roads and construction, repair, and rehabilitation of bridges and flood control structures in Central Visayas.
The social sector agency proposals, meanwhile, focus on the renovation, rehabilitation and upgrading of equipment for hospitals and schools in various areas in the region.
“The sectoral committees, upon review of the Annual Investment Program for 2010, found it to be in order and consistent with the development thrusts of the region in general and of the sectors in particular,” said Marlene Rodriguez, National Economic Development Authority director and vice chairperson of RDC.
Rodriguez said the regional line agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, and state universities and colleges must submit to the RDC a list of their priority programs, activities and projects for inclusion in their budget proposal. — Garry B. Lao/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
