Sales of residential condo steady: Robinsons Land exec

By Debra Magallon-Estero

DESPITE the global economic crisis, Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) reported “steady” sales of residential condominium units for AmiSa, its mixed-use development in Lapu-Lapu City.
Without revealing actual figures, RLC assistant vice president for leisure and retirement Trina Cipriano said a good percentage of buyers of AmiSa Private Residences were balikbayans “who love coming to Cebu.”

“Most of the buyers are based abroad but have ties in the Visayas region,” she added.
She added that there are also buyers who are Manila based and foreign nationals already based in Cebu either for work or retirement.

This, she said, strengthens Cebu’s position as a business hub.
Robinsons Land is also actively pursuing the foreign retirement market, and Cipriano said that since the company pioneered the mixed-use development, the entertainment and hotel components of its various developments have been “a good proposition for retirees.”
Medical tourism

The company, however, is not yet going into the medical tourism industry—which Cebu is being positioned for by local tourism stakeholders.

Cipriano said medical tourism will be a joint effort between the private and the public sector to bring the international retirement market to the country.

Meanwhile, RLC remains optimistic about its prospects for Cebu.

“We are looking for ways to expand (our business) here in Cebu,” she said.

Its Robinsons Cybergate Cebu, located near the Fuente Osmeña Rotunda, is now nearing completion.

Earlier, RLC had announced that the Robinsons Cybergate Cebu was scheduled to be completed in the last quarter of this year.

The seven-storey building will feature spaces for business process outsourcing companies as well as retail, health and wellness and medical establishments.

The company also owns an almost P500-million property located in the North Reclamation Area in Cebu.

Cipriano said there are no final plans yet on what the property will be used for, but that the company’s commercial center group is taking the lead on it.
