“The elements of the water Dragon will bring in some improvement and transformation. Although natural disasters and calamities will continue,” said Allen.

Agriculture-based industries will find its way up this year, as wood-based sectors like flowers, fashion, publishing, farming or plantation is in the center of “luck” this year, thus engaging in these businesses promise to bring profitability.

“There could be an economic turn-around this year. Asia is the safe position to grow—economically,” she said.

Allen said every water dragon year brings transformation, she mentioned the last water dragon year that was in 1952, wherein prominent change in politics in United Kingdom happened, when King George VI passed away, that led to the transition of leadership to Queen Elizabeth. In the same year, the world saw the birth of the nuclear age and World War II treaty was signed.

These are just few of the events that happened during the last water dragon year, Allen believes that based on Feng Shui the energies of the year which are mainly driven by five important elements—water, fire earth, metal and wood.

Businesses that are related to “earth” element like real estate, will continue to give promising performance, while those businesses that are related to water—like shipping, banking, transport, beverages and fishing will not see a significant movement, however, the growth is sustained on the average line.

Likewise, the metal element, of which businesses involved are jewelry, mining computers, airlines, automobiles among others, will also experience an average performance, although as spectacular as the wood-based businesses.

Those businesses that are related to fire, such as restaurants, lighting, electricity, entertainment will find a very competitive year, Allen warned.

Based on the Paht Chee Chart of the Year of the Water Dragon, Allen said the year brings “affliction,” emphasizing warning of some possibility of violence and natural disasters.

“There could be an emergence of powerful rebel leader,” she said adding that the Chinese New year commences in the worst day of the month, in the worst day of the year.

On the other hand, she said that as the year of the water dragon is a “double spring” year, it is good for those who want to get married, start a business, transfer to another job.

Feng Shui is a system of designing buildings and space arrangement according to special rules about the flow of energy, aimed at achieving harmony with the environment; In Chinese mythology, a system of spiritual energies, both good and evil, present in the natural features of landscapes.

It is based on an ancient art and science developed over 3,000 years ago in China. It is a complex body of knowledge that reveals how to balance the energies of any given space to assure the health and good fortune for people inhabiting it.

Allen, a Cebuana, is the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of World of Feng Shui (WOFS) Philippines, the merchandizing arm of her geomancy practice. (FREEMAN)
