The buzz about Malaysia proved true as Innoland, a proudly Cebuano property developer, pulled out all the stops for their top brokers: jetting a motley crew of 20 led by CEO Joy Anthony Ong to the bustling city of Kuala Lumpur!
And what do they say about this city? Everything is magnified and impeccable, effortlessly proving why KL (the favored abbreviation, especially among the locals) is the 5th most visited city in the world. A tour around the city brought the group to the Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square), Istana Negara (National Palace) and a dip into one of the most hyped and hip retail centers in the region what may become the shared cultural bridge between Filipinos and Malaysians: shopping!
An entire day was devoted to retail therapy as Cebuano top brokers Michael Placencia, Christie Simtoco, Baby Abarquez, Purie Cabahug, Gigi Alvarez, Bobby Pacana, Guy Teves, Virgie Locson, Terry Sy, and Sam Lao, spent their well-earned pesos at a sampling of KL’s famed 66 shopping malls, spread across the city. First on the list was the most prominent: The Suria KLCC, just beneath the famed tallest twin towers in the world, houses a heady mix of international brands like Chanel and Hermes with homegrown Malaysian ones. Among the latter, Royal Selangor’s pewter is a prized KL purchase, the silvery metal a great accent either as top-of-the-line food crucibles or accents on smaller items like bags, even intricately-designed pewter bookmarks.
Food was also a major highlight, with a most interesting meal at a storied restaurant. At a youngish 5 years, the Jogoya Malaysia at the Starhill Gallery has broken the million diner mark, filling its huge 30,000 square feet interiors daily with a crowd hungry for its pork-free buffet. A most interesting detail? Ordering here is ingenious: numbered silver clips indicating your table number are provided to you. One merely drops the clips on bowls placed in front of sample dishes on the buffet, and the freshly-prepared version arrives piping hot (or freshly sliced, as the case may be) on your table in no time, a clever way to order a dish of choice, uniquely Jogoya.
During the luncheon, Innoland Consultant Tetta Baad, speaking in behalf of the company, and Wilson Granados, Marketing VP of Innoland, congratulated the group for the success of Calyx Centre, Cebu’s first green, hybrid building. A delicious after lunch treat was announced: the following year’s choices of international destinations for the 2011 top brokers as Innoland’s next green residential condominium in the Cebu Business Park is poised for launch soon.
After a packed day of enjoying one of Asia’s Alpha World Cities, what better way to slumber than the Mandarin Oriental way? The top brokers went home to the well-appointed deluxe premium confines of the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, with the best city views. Distinctly luxe, the signature fan emblem is an assurance of quality service and understated elegance that are hallmarks of the brand.
Three days in a city that respects its Green Space (Where else can you find a 16-hectare forest reserve right smack in the city? Bukit Nanas is a welcome patch of real jungle within a concrete one, a tour of which is offered by the Kuala Lumpur Tower, situated within the reserve) was a perfect eye opener for Innoland’s brokers who, after all, are already sold on the company’s vision for a Green living space for all.
